mooch recordings kicks off with the imperial street ep from quenum, the man behind cadenza and a back catalogue of hits across labels crosstown rebels, orac, soma, trapez, to name but a few. his his legendary set back in july cemented his place in the mooch hall of fame and also put him on the radar for the first ever release on the label. quenums hypnotic, groovers on this ep are just right in building up the night, riding through peak time and out the other end down at the afterparty. on remix duties we have invited tim xavier to weave his tech magic and add his signature harder, darker sound to this killer ep.

dope me / does caroline know? is a slightly clubbier affair-less sun ra and more soul capsule-but still possesses the air of strangeness that makes the duo so unique. each artist leaves his mark within the first few measure of dope me. the steady high-hats and flawless kick drum are straight out of dazes playbook, while the nervous piano and 3 chairs-style claps are unmistakably bruno. as for the slurred vocal pleading >dope me..dope me<, thats anyones guess. the track carries on for a solid nine minutes as half-melodies and quasi-hooks slide in and out of the mix. the b-side, does caroline know?, takes us deeper and darker. the drums are plodding, the mood is ominous, and a series of dreamlike flourishes add to an already eerie groove. like the a-side, its a surrealistic style of house that only these two could deliver. the artwork, as usual, is done by daze maxim.

this latest release from hizatron and bashley galvanises the usual wigflexian- gloop with a more industrial edge and a superb implementation of found sounds. a darker pallet underpins the record but this is inverted then lifted with inserts of scattered euphoria. whilst all that is synonymous with the current face of techno lurks consistently in the background throughout, in an almost redemptive fashion, we are hoisted upward from a chromatic descent and set forth onto a crisp, bouncy path peppered with light. the depth of stereo field is utilised perfectly here and the use of dimension is something of a staple for all of those who call wigflex home. hizatron is known for his seamless arrangements, catchy melodies and punchy percussion and this record has that unquestionable tron swagger but the familiar sound is accelerated by new influences from bashley who although a relatively unknown member of the family brings a fresh range of timbres that compliment hizas signature grooves.

nima khak who normally releases deeper techno cuts on labels like h-productions, drumcode, isl comes with a release true to the 1:53.2 philosophy pushing the limits of what should be expected from the artists normal work. unlike his previous productions you will find a more laid back housey sound in this release.

new clone basement series (lucky number 013!) with the long awaited return of a made up sound (aka 2562), following up on his archive ep/cbs02. written as a counterbalance to the more experimental releases on his own amus label series, archive ii finally unleashes whats possibly his most banging, straight-forward club material to date, while retaining the trademark a made up sound funk and swing.hang-up is all about the irresistible herbie-injected groove, cut-up and layered to great effect, whereas things get darker and bass-heavier with technotrack sweetback on the flip. keeping the tension high till a drop towards the end, seven minutes never seemed so short. a great first number 013 release and we cant wait to hear some of our favourite djs play the tracks out loud. another proper banger on the clone basement series!

foolish felix dickinsons superb cynic label with another hot one! cynics latest release features another killer track from l.h.a.s. inc. the restless berliners are back to bring some sun back to the dancefloors. fargo is a real open air hymn which you can only love or hate. an oldschool organ bassline on a minimal house beat topped with strings and disco vocals. this must be a hit. save yourself i a little bit darker but also a pretty strong track with a piano hook that you wont get out of your head too soon. the b side takes it back a notch with the more laid back tracks now youre gone and the fargo remix from the young and talented mass digital from serbia. thats proper deep house here on keno records.

a made up sound aka 2562 and dexter deliver two remixes for arttu featuring jerry the cat. nuclear funk and get up off it get transformed from raw chicago influenced cuts into darker electro/techno hybrids by these two dutch techno wizzards. both known for their sharp productions that cross over between techno, electro and bass music they have a fresh take on the original versions. by the choice of remixers we didnt expect the standard house remixes, something more challenging would fit the spirit of the originals. this remix 12 inch might be is somewhat of a dark horse in the house orientated clone royal oak catalogue, but expectations are to there be messed up.

after their first hello on the 6 years hive compilation adriatique is back on hive audio with a full ep. the swiss- based duo recently released some remarkable pieces of music in the last months with amzing feedbacks and chart-postitions. the aint nobody ep shows a few typical adriatique sounds but has a darker touch. the original a-side is filled with some old school housebeats paired with heavy synth work, deep vocals & a rolling bassline which makes this track work for every time of the night or morning. atapys remix of aint nobody goes into the same direction but delivers his very own interpretation. he put on the atapy stamp through his characteristic synthmelodies. then we have another original track from adriatique. mind games is a heavy dance floor track with lots of content. pretty much electronic with melodies and spoken vocals which really put mind games on the map. overall all tracks are made for the club and will achieve their goal. dancing not only with the body but also with the soul.

as is generally known, the night is not limited to the time dimension but has also a spatial dimension. the darker the night, the more artificial is the light and the more the even apparently well known places become unreal. patrick pulsinger resorts to such dusk-to-dawn places by using his three excellent tracks of his new release >nocturnalcat<. or to tell it better: he makes us streying.

meander continues the killer project from mike shannon and dewalta with a superb record of pure analog synth-funk. the creative cooperation between these two inventive minds deliver a pretty unusual adventure. wandering via a deep forest of sounds saint jack de smoove guides you powerful and reverberating through the darker territories of time and space. mike, known for his outputs on respected labels like plus 8, force inc., wagon repair and cynosure already worked with dewalta for releases on haunt and their first record for the same project on cynosure. their second offering goes a huge step further into sounddesign and warm black grooves making it a perfect record for the house meander is. saint jack de smoove welcomes you to join him on his incredible voyage into altered states.

berlin based daniel dexter is part of the new breed of producers showing us why theres still mileage in the good old house groove. his cultured, expressive productions have the mark of a true talent and mr. dexter has only just begun. the acid-revival lives on.storm is a heavy, late night tale of sax, e-piano and stomping synth basslines. growing from a filtered intro, its song like structure drives us into true reckless abandon - perfect for the darker moments of the night, but still oozy with funk and soul. the thick, percussive opening bars of there will be jazz lead to a focus on one of dexters chosen weapons - more jazzy saxophone samples and synthesized strings lift us into a musical crescendo of tension, yet theres a laid back, new york vibe to the track, which will no doubt get plenty of plays this summer. the mysterious murder is a darker affair, shrouded in rave-era stabs and a real pushing vibe. its clear that daniel is a dextrous (no pun intended) producer with plenty of tricks up his sleeve

the unstoppable felix bernhardt returns to afulab with his first vocal performance on the track cllub junk ! sung in german with an ironic background and sure to touch the youngsters in the german underground scene. somehow a persiflage to one track that was annoying the clubs in the recent year backed by soo normal , which is pure felix style at his best. the flip-side shows some new approaches into the darker and deeper techno world with try this at night and fuck out. two techno diamonds to bang the floors

all nite ep is the young mancunian waltons second set on hyperdub, after his very well received walton ep debut for the label in 2011. title cut >all nite< kicks it off with warm plucked strings, diva moans and lazer-like synths stretched to the point of anticipation over cracking grime handclaps and bass drums, until the track drops into a blocky bass line playing hide and seek with low arpeggios that spiral in and out of the mix, over a giant pounding metallic kick drum before layering on the warmth again. the whole track plays with a fine balance between warm, disco-like lushness and exuberant roughness. >mallet< is driving and darker, building detuned, bell-like tones over a 4/4 beat accented by breaks and fills and gaps, dropping into a big bass line and syncopations that disrupt the beat and bring the drama. >kush< is different again, taking the pace down with low end, synth hip hop with glassy chords, running over woozy pitch shifting rhodes chords fed through a layer of crackly gauze.
